MINRESI prescribes the densification of research and the strengthening of innovation to researchers
“Scientific Research-Innovation and SDN30: Need for Capacity Building for Structural Transformation of Cameroon’s Socio-economic Landscape”. This is the theme of the 9th edition of the Scientific Year 2022 in Cameroon, organized by the Ministry of Scientific Research and Innovation (MINRESI) led by Dr Madeleine Tchuinté, on March 17, 2022 in Yaoundé. A topical theme that invites Cameroonian researchers to implement the strategic objective of MINRESI, namely: « densify research and strengthen innovation » for the sustainable development of Cameroon.
To achieve the objectives of Cameroon’s National Development Strategy 2020-2030 (SDN30), according to Ms. MINRESI, the scientific research and innovation sub-sector has a decisive role to play. Thus, in relation to the socio-economic development of the country, Dr. Madeleine Tchuinté presented the challenges facing the National Research and Innovation System (SNRI) which generates a wide range of results. In order to intensify research and strengthen innovation, the pharmacist recommended that researchers « continue to implement the large-scale actions in progress ».
This is to “support the modernization of the production apparatus and the reduction of imports of consumer products, promote and encourage the exploitation and processing of mineral resources; map, measure the impacts of societal changes on the quality of life and on living together and; promote the development of an endogenous drug industry based on the exploitation of the rich Cameroonian pharmacopoeia”.
During this grandiose solemnity, for all their positive and significant actions carried out in the agricultural research sector, two researchers from the Institute of Agricultural Research for Development (IRAD) directed by Dr Noé Woin were crowned, each, with a medal of Chevalier de l’ordre national du merit: the DGA/DRS Dr Francis Emmanuel Ngomè Ajebesoné and the retired senior researcher Dr Jean Nkuété.
Established in 2012, the purpose of the Scientific Year is to promote research and researchers from MINRESI and the institutes under its supervision: IRAD, ANRP, INC, IRGM, IMPM, MIPROMALO, CNE, CNDT and CAMDIAGNOSTIC.
